Data Rio Institute uses radiofrequency technology to control various items in health units

The IDR, constituted on July 11, 2005, is a Civil Association, and legal personality of private law, non-profit. In its management project of the Units of Emergency Care (UPAs), it decided to innovate in its management form and to create automated methods of control with RFID of the protocols to combat hospital infection.

Atrio Rio is a company that operates in the outsourcing market and has more than two thousand professionals hired. Today, outsourcing certain sectors of a company has been the most efficient way to manage because it enables the focus of the company to be exclusively geared toward its activities purposes.

SOLUTION_DETAILS

  • Client:

    The IDR, constituted on July 11, 2005, is a Civil Association, and legal personality of private law, non-profit. In his management project of the Units of Emergency Care (UPAs), he decided to innovate in its management form and to create automated RFID control methods of hospital infection control protocols.

  • Proposed Challenge:

    Establish a logistic control of the use of resources allocated in the health unit. Provide a better public service for the general population. Avoid risks of nosocomial infection.

  • Equipment:

    Readers M6, Edge-50, DOT-300U collector and Inlay tags that operate on the Gen2 standard.

  • Solution:

    Passage identification portals were installed at strategic points to control the flow of resources in the health unit. UHF tags were used for drug control using the Paper Less method that automatically tells the pharmacist which medications were prescribed and automating the inventory counting processes. They were also used to control patrimony, control of cleaning assets, control of laundry and control of uniforms, not allowing the exit of professionals from the work environment, wearing uniform (avoiding risks of hospital infection).

  • Operation:

    Atrio Rio has developed a system, installed in the UPA (Emergency Care Unit) of the city of Mesquita, in Rio de Janeiro, which allows patrimonial control, tracking of cleaning assets and medication control. In order to reduce hospital infection, lab coats and sheets received RFID chips and, in the future, cleaning supplies will also be monitored as well as drugs and syringes.

    Atrio Rio installed gateways to identify passages at strategic points to control the flow of resources in the health unit, using equipment such as PDAs and readers using the Gen2 communication protocol.

    Integration with the unit management system, automated control of uniforms, assets, cleaning assets, laundry and medicines.
