Sentry Cable Tag
A specialized tag for tracking cable assemblies with excellent RFID performance.
Companies in the audiovisual industry—as well as in construction and IT rentals—face the challenge of optimizing logistics and creating reliable inventory and workflows around the cables they handle every day. Identifying cables with printed barcodes or QR codes is inefficient, as each barcode must be manually scanned within line of sight.
RFID technology overcomes this challenge by enabling bulk cable scanning without line of sight. However, not every RFID tag is equally suited for this task. The Sentry Cable RAIN® RFID tag has been specifically optimized to perform on insulated metal and is available with a set of durable tag holders that allow reliable mounting on professional cables of various sizes.
The HID Sentry Cable PCB-based tag has a low profile—only 2.8 mm high—and a very small footprint of 36 mm × 11 mm. Despite its compact size, it provides a read range of up to 20 feet (6 m) when mounted on insulated metal. The Sentry Cable tag fits seamlessly into HID’s tag holder portfolio, deployed by companies that use large and high-value cable assemblies. The optimized read range of this next-generation product delivers reliable reads even when cables are stacked for transport.
Sentry Cable tag holders are the most efficient way to mount Sentry RFID tags on cables of various diameters. Made from high-performance thermoplastic polyester resin, secured with industrial-grade screws, and specifically designed for the Sentry Cable tag, these holders are engineered to withstand the harsh conditions cables are often exposed to. From impact and pressure to extreme temperatures, the cable tag holders keep the RFID tag securely in place—ensuring that the data you need is always accessible.
All holders feature a durable, transparent “window” that allows reading of a barcode or human-readable label while protecting the tag from harsh environments. The holders are available in multiple sizes and colors to match any cable and provide additional visual differentiation. They also include a lanyard support feature for attaching cords to assist with manual handling of heavy cables.
