Centauro, part of the SBF Group, is perhaps a unique case in the world of a large retailer that managed to implement RFID technology in both its distribution centers and hundreds of stores across the country in an absolutely record time of just 1 year! This initiative took place in 2019, and the scale of this feat still impresses everyone in the market, consolidating Centauro as a benchmark in technological innovation in Brazilian retail.
Centauro is the largest sporting goods chain in Brazil, offering products from various brands for sports, sportswear, and high-performance equipment. Founded in 1981, Centauro combines physical stores throughout the country with a strong e-commerce presence, serving millions of customers every year. The SBF Group, in turn, is the conglomerate that encompasses Centauro and other brands in the sports segment, being one of the largest players in the sector in Brazil, with a strong focus on expansion, innovation, and technology applied to retail.
The implementation of RFID throughout Centauro's supply chain enabled extremely precise inventory management, with 99.99% accuracy, in addition to optimizing logistics processes and improving the experience for employees and customers. The speed and efficiency of this implementation, combined with the talent of the Centauro team and the support of technology partners, transformed this project into a globally recognized Brazilian success story, awarded by GS1.

A case of extreme success!
A true Dream Team of great professionals from Centauro, led by Sergio Silva Jardim Filho, prepared and focused, and the support of technology partners explain this great Brazilian RFID success story for the world, awarded by GS1. It was and has been a great honor to participate in this journey from the beginning, with the supply of thousands of ACURA TSL BTL-1000 and BTL-2128P handheld readers (SLEDs) that greatly contributed to 99.99% accuracy in store inventory, in addition to optimizing the entire supply chain, and above all, improving the experience of employees and customers.
And this year, we built the high-performance ACURA AT-1000 RFID tunnels for Nike's operation, which in Brazil belongs to Centauro/Grupo SBF and already operates in the DC managed by DHL in Louveira. Special thanks to all the professionals at Centauro and DHL, whose contribution far exceeded any expectations we had, which were already high! Brazilian retail is a world leader in the use of RFID technology, and that's no small feat!
