Case ALL
ALL - América Latina Logística accurately and safely identifies its compositions
América Latina Logística is the largest independent logistics services company in South America, operating integrated rail and road transport for various clients in countries such as Brazil and Argentina. Founded in 1997 as Ferrovia Sul Atlântico, it was one of three companies to take over rail services in Brazil that year. The following year, it also assumed the concession for railways in the Central and Northern regions of Argentina. In 2001, it acquired Delara, a road transport company in Brazil, and expanded its logistics support. It has 21,300 kilometers of railways in the two countries, with almost 16,000 of the more than 29,000 kilometers of existing railway lines in Brazil exclusively within national territory.
The continuous pursuit of modernization and efficiency has led América Latina Logística to invest in advanced management and tracking technologies, improving its ability to monitor fleets, coordinate transnational operations, and optimize cargo flow. With a robust infrastructure and an integrated approach across different modes of transport, the company has established itself as a benchmark in large-scale logistics in South America, contributing to the economic development of the regions where it operates and significantly increasing the competitiveness of its clients.
Problems
The challenge was to identify the passage of each wagon without compromising the performance of the workers.
Solution
Use of specific UHF RFID tags for metallic surfaces that withstand harsh environments on the wagons and readers along the tracks and terminals.
Advantages
Greater agility in the logistics process and in the identification of wagons, without compromising the performance of the operators.
Benefits
Greater traceability necessary for ALL's operation.
Target Audience
Logistics and Rail Transport.
One of the solutions implemented by ACURA Part HID allows for the automatic identification of each wagon's passage along the tracks and terminals.
América Latina Logística is the largest independent logistics services company in South America, operating integrated rail and road transport in Brazil and Argentina. Founded in 1997 as Ferrovia Sul Atlântico, it was one of the first companies to assume the concession for rail services in the country. The following year, it expanded its operations by also taking over the railways in the Central and Northern regions of Argentina and, in 2001, reinforced its logistics structure by acquiring Delara, a Brazilian road transport company. Today, it manages 21,300 kilometers of railways in both countries, with almost 16,000 kilometers in Brazilian territory alone, an essential part of the more than 29,000 existing railway lines in Brazil. This growth was accompanied by continuous investments in technology and infrastructure, strengthening its position as one of the logistical pillars of South America.
To improve operational control, the company faced the challenge of identifying each wagon along the railway lines and at the terminals without compromising the pace of work of its employees. Before automation, the team had to manually check if the wagons were on the correct line, a laborious task, subject to errors and which consumed valuable operational time.
The solution adopted consisted of using specific UHF RFID Tags for metallic surfaces, capable of withstanding harsh environments, applied directly to the wagons. Antennas and readers were installed at strategic points on the railway network and at the terminals. Thus, whenever a train passed through these locations, the readers automatically identified each wagon, verifying its location in real time and eliminating the need for human intervention.
This automation brought significant improvements to the operation. With the wagon inspection process now fully automated, the constant presence of personnel along the tracks was eliminated, reducing risks and increasing operational safety. As a result, the company gained greater traceability, precision, and practicality in asset control, ensuring a more agile and efficient operation aligned with ALL's logistical demands.
